Thank You!
At Gehring L.P., we design and build honing machines for processing bore diameters ranging from Ø1– Ø2000 mm and bore lengths up to 24 meters.
Our product line ranges from highly flexible single spindle machines to multi-spindle high volume transfer machines. We achieve leadership recognition as an innovator of strategically responsive technical solutions.
Large bore machines are designed for transmission components, connecting rods, cylinder blocks, cylinder liners, compressors, injection tubes and other similar applications.
Typically, size range in this category is Ø11-Ø2000 mm. Machine configurations vary from stand alone, manually loaded machines to large multi-spindle and multi-station transfer machines.
A standard vertical Z Spindle machine and a standard horizontal GNM machine are included in this range.
Both stroke honing and ream honing processes are utilized.
Gehring small-bore solutions are designed for bores between Ø1 mm and Ø11 mm.
Typical applications consist of diesel injection components, brake components, hydraulic valves, injection nozzles, lifters and small aircraft components.
Machine configurations in this range are typically rotary table or pallet transfer and are designed to meet very stringent part tolerances.
Primarily, stroke honing is utilized for these applications.
Optimization of durable and perishable tooling is the key to lower cost and higher uptime machine systems. Continuous and problem free operation of the honing systems provide for reduced variation and less operator involvement.
Our expertise in tooling maintenance and abrasive rework services has provided exceptionally durable tooling life. Many honing tools are still in service 20 years after the original sale. Coordination of just in time delivery and inventory control has reduced piece cost while maintaining excellent reliability.
Flexibility in the tool design is also paramount. Having the ability to change the tooling to improve concepts without having to replace the entire tool allows Gehring L.P. to decrease cost and improve delivery of new processes.
These features contribute to our goal of premium quality, good value and constant improvement.
For small-bore applications, Gehring L. P. offers both single stone and multiple stone tools. For the large bore applications, we offer both single-feed and dual-feed tools. Combination tools can be used for finish and plateau, semi-finish and finish or finish and brush operations in one tool design.
Gehring L.P. provides in-house manufacturing of super abrasives by Diato L.P.

...always at the forefront of technology
Gehring L.P. prides itself on the continuous improvement of existing applications and skill in developing new equipment and honing processes to achieve the ever-increasing quality and machine tool performance requirements in modern society.
Changes in requirements of the combustion engine industry have driven our customer and Gehring L.P. to develop new honing processes and new machine tools.
A particular example is "Laser Structuring". Developed during the 1990’s, this method combines the technologies of Gehring L. P.’s advanced honing systems with Laser accuracy and speed.
The result is an optimal tribological condition that lowers frictional forces, increases service life and reduces emissions. As an engineered surface, this advanced technique can be used to optimize not only the components being honed but also the product system as a whole.
Development of a new honing process and service after the machine sale represents our desire to ensure that the customer’s needs are met. With the ability to be hands on over the entire life cycle of a product line demonstrates our understanding of how our customers utilize our equipment with optimum machine performance.
We take pride in the fact that our machines maintain capability even after 20 years of heavy daily use. Customer service and preventative maintenance come together to provide excellent uptime characteristics after years of use.
Gehring’s highly trained and knowledgeable "Service Team" is available to provide emergency service, production maintenance planning, training and offsite support. Our "eService" system allows us to monitor machine performance.
The expansion of our R & D center offers the latest in honing technology and prototype services. Vertical and horizontal machines are available including Ream Honing, Laser Structuring, Precision Honing and the latest measuring equipment.
Gehring L.P.Service foundation:

and production support is available in our development center
With quality the meanings and definitions are many.
Typically, the term "Customer Satisfaction" is used to help companies with the performance of their quality system. At Gehring the opposite is true. Our quality features have reduced the cost of our products and improved the capability of our systems, thus setting the standards of Customer Satisfaction.
Reduction of control components, optimization of tooling and processes before final design and working with customers on the design of their products has allowed us to become proactive in the implementation of successful new projects.
In 1998, Gehring L.P. became certified in ISO-9001. By December of 2000, we achieved the QS9000+TE as well as Ford Q-1 award. The quality systems we have in place have allowed us to produce better systems with higher accuracies and reliability for our customers.
For Gehring L.P., continued improvement in our products and services is a daily activity. Defining and achieving the goals of our customers from both a cost and technology standpoint is our focus.
